Laura Silver, Certified Death Doula: Compassionate Care Advocate
Laura resides in Calgary, Alberta, with her husband, two children, and 2 dogs. With nearly fifteen years of experience in Ontario's healthcare sector, Laura served as a Senior Policy Advisor and Project Manager, contributing significantly to various strategies including the Ontario Diabetes Strategy, Home-Based Primary Care Strategy, and Seniors Strategy. Earlier in her career at the University Health Network, she played a pivotal role in establishing multidisciplinary healthcare approaches and contributed to the development of the Toronto Central LHIN and UHN's Palliative Care Strategy.
After relocating to Alberta in 2016, Laura spearheaded the creation of the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention program for newborns and worked extensively to enhance patient access to specialist care in the province as the Senior Project Manager for eReferral. Laura is certified as a Lean Green Belt in Healthcare and PROSCI certified.
Additionally, Laura serves on the Board of Directors for the Home Hospice Association and holds the position of Alberta Chapter Chair of HHA. Her vision is to ensure every community has access to local death doulas, providing resources, support, and compassionate care to all individuals, enabling them to spend their final days in comfort and peace in their chosen environment.
